StarLine Ink Specific Nibs
New StarLine AQ for water-based inks
Introducing patented bicomponent fiber
technology
StarLine AQ was developed
specifically for water-based inks, using new bicomponent fiber technology.
It binds the fibers together with just the right amount of firmness and
porosity, without the use of resins. The absence of resins lowers the cost
and allows for more control of the nib's void volume. This results in smoother
flow and integral lines. AFFCO has experience using this technology in
other products for a variety of applications. Now that it has been perfected
for pen nibs, AFFCO is proud to introduce this patented technology to the
writing instrument industry. Now there is a low cost alternative to aligned-fiber
nibs, and StarLine AQ has even
better flow characteristics.
New StarLine DE for dry erase inks
Specially formulated for use with the
latest dry erase inks
This nib undergoes a proprietary process that was developed to optimize
nib performance with the latest dry erase inks. The result is a smooth
flowing nib with good laydown and line integrity. Because this application
is so popular and new inks are being so rapidly introduced, AFFCO embarked
on an R&D project to provide unmatched performance with the new dry
erase ink systems. Its performance makes it a cost effective alternative
to nibs using aligned fiber technology.
StarLine GP
One nib for water and alcohol based inks
The one nib that works equally well in water-base and alcohol-base inks.
This general purpose nib offers the advantages of reduced inventory and
eliminates the threat of selecting the wrong nib. With a long history of
on-time delivery and consistent performance,
StarLine GP established AFFCO's
reputation in the writing instrument industry.
Custom formulations
Your competitive edge
AFFCO's technical support people will listen to your needs, review your
specifications, develop the process, and provide prototypes for your evaluation.
We have the knowledge and the tools to develop custom nibs that will deliver
peak performance with the newest ink systems.
Quality assurance capabilities
The people, the tools, and the knowledge
Statistical process control (SPC) is employed to ensure accurate and
consistent nibs. This includes the precise control of the die cutting process,
which ensures that the nibs you get will feed smoothly through the automated
assembly equipment without jamming. SPC is also used at every treatment
phase, ensuring that the nibs provide consistent ink uptake, laydown, and
writeout. Instrumentation to measure these parameters is on hand and routinely
used for each batch.
AFFCO has the qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis capabilities
to evaluate incoming materials and final product. Strict control of the
entire process, under one roof, provides traceability of all raw materials
to their point of origin.
